Lisa Jiang creates wearable technology through the movement of clothing.
Iris Van Herpen's designs, which we see with a design point of view, are the reason why she has experience with Iris Van Herpen. Showcasing technology and movement in just the easy way with light and a few mechanisms. The challenge is to reflect this with more artisanal works, as Lisa did. The designer is particularly interested in the development of kinetic fashion. She explores the dialogue between mathematical forms and creates clothes that are always in motion. Her latest graduation collection, “Trace”, is a collection created for this purpose. She also shares the design process in an interview with a magazine.
The process starts with startup photography and is supported by research. Then the designer who creates videos with fluid dynamic pictures; She experiments with pictures using ink, milk, and detergent. The way the liquids interact with each other is an important part of emphasizing movement in the final garments. How different from the design process we are used to, isn't it?

Lisa Jiang's instagram:
A design journey that is investigative, observant, experiential, and where each step supports the next, requires patience and attention.
The process doesn't just end there, Lisa, who works in a more mathematical way, shares that she worked with an electronics engineering professor on this journey to solve some equations and relationships between the weight of the fabric, the torque and the speed of the engine. And tons of extra experiences are being made, she. She is already making a name for herself as a disciplined designer.
